The Links @ Citiside, 276 units, Citiside, Charlotte NC
The Links is located in Citiside, a 110-acre, multi-use golf course redevelopment in East Charlotte, which is located seven miles beyond the Center City. This area of Charlotte declined steadily during prior to the 2000’s; however, Citiside revived the area, and it now contains a 70,000 square foot shopping center anchored by a Bi-Lo grocery store, single family homes and condominiums.
This 276-unit project is the only modern apartment community in the area. Despite deteriorating market conditions and low seasonal demand upon its winter completion, the Links averaged over 20 leases monthly and captured over 90% of its projected market rents. The community contains a business center, laundry room, pool, exercise room, and a separate community center that offers tutorial and other educational services. The Drakeford Company was the project manager for The Links, which was developed by Bank of America.
The Lexington on Mallard Creek, 240 units, University, Charlotte NC
The Lexington on Mallard Creek is located near the University City area in Derita, which had historically been considered a working class/blue collar community. This project of 240 units is the only full-scale apartment complex located within the neighborhood.
The Lexington recorded an impressive lease-up averaging 40 units monthly and was awarded the Trammell Crow Residential Services Southeast Property of The Year Award. It was sold and is now known as Mission Mallard Creek apartments. The community contains a business center, garages, pool, exercise room, car care center and a tot-lot.
